Notes from the class

What we have been learning...

During the autumn term, Year 6 learnt about ‘Evolution’. We linked our science topic to our English work and our writing focussed on Darwin’s voyage to the Galapagos Islands; two of the genres we focussed on were balanced arguments and diary extracts.

In science, we learnt about inheritance, natural selection and evolution and we planned and carried out an investigation about how evolution might have affected finches’ beaks.
In RE, Reverend David came into Year 6 to answer our ‘big questions’ about whether the teachings of creation and science are complimentary or conflicting.
