Jane Cregan-Bird – Chair of Governors

Jane has been a Foundation Governor, appointed through St. Michael’s Church, at St. Michael’s Junior School for over eleven years. She has also been Chair of Governors at the school since 2008. Jane became a Governor after responding to a vacancy advertised in the “Viewpoint” (the Church magazine). She felt she wanted to be a Governor because she had both an interest in and a working background in education, and felt that she could bring relevant skills to the role. Apart from an interest in education Jane is also interested in fashion, shopping, personal fitness. Jane belongs to a local gym, and enjoys musical theatre especially the large London productions!

Diane Gale - Foundation Governor

Foundation Governor Diane has lived in the area since 1969 and has been a member of St. Michael’s Church for forty two years. She has always been very active in the community having run a lunch club for the elderly, running a Brownie Pack and was a founding member of GIPA (Parent’s Association) at Galleywood Infant School where she also worked as a mid-day Assistant. More recently Diane has worked for Chelmsford Borough Council and Chelmsford College. She has been involved with St Michaels Church for the past three years and responded to a Lent challenge in 2013 to become more involved in the local community. She will contribute to the work of the Pupil Achievement, Behaviour and Well-Being Committee. She has considerable experience in education performance outcomes, having worked as a school improvement officer in an East London local authority for the past 15 years. She no longer works full time, so now has more time to support St Michael’s Junior School.

Carol Colledge – Local Authority Governor

Originally a Parent Governor, Carol is now County Local Authority Governor and has served on the Governing Body for over 20 years. Carol has lived in Galleywood since 1984 with both her children having attended St. Michael’s Junior School. Now retired, Carol taught Art & Design at Great Baddow High School and so has a knowledge and understanding of education and keeps up to date with current practices and thinking. Carol enjoys travelling, dressmaking and likes to read and visit galleries. She became a school governor to use some of her expertise and experience to give something back to the local community.

Janella Coates - Foundation Governor

Janella has lived in Galleywood for all of her childhood and most if her married life. She is a former pupil of St. Michael’s as is her son who is now 24. She has been a Foundation Governor for over 10 years and has a responsibility to maintain the Christian ethos of the school. She works full time in Indemnity Insurance for the construction industry.

Nicola Trivett - Parent Governor

Nicola is a business women and Mum of two gorgeous boys. One in the infants and one in St. Michaels. She runs a successful IT Business alongside her Father and Brother and luckily enough they make a good team! Nicola enjoys all types of sport, and having two boys and a football crazy partner most of her weekends (and weekdays!), are taken up by football training or matches. Nicola loves taking time out to walk her dog, keeping fit, and catching up with friends and family as often as she can. However, when she gets the chance she does like to relax with a good book, or film!

Duncan Mckenzie - Foundation Governor

Duncan is married to Liz and they have three grown up sons. Living in Great Baddow he is a member of Meadgate Church and is keen to support the school and maintain its Christian ethos. Duncan is working as volunteer coordinator for City of Chelmsford Mencap and as project lead for Inform Galleywood, a new initiative at St Michael’s designed to provide support to those looking for guidance on finance, debt and benefits. His career previously has been as a business economist and he has also recently spent a term as a learning support assistant at a primary school.

Andrew Brown - Parent Governor

Andrew has recently joined the Governing Body as an Associate Member.  He has lived in Galleywood for nearly 20 years and has three children – two now at High School and one currently at St Michaels (all three having started at Galleywood Infants and then joined the Junior School).  Andrew has a keen interest in Football (mostly watching!), cycling and swimming.  He hopes that he can help the Board of Governors to support the school to be as successful as we parents all would like and that he can assist this by bringing some of his experience in healthcare management.
