Welcome to 4F

Miss Faldo was born and raised in Essex. From a very early age, it was her dream to become a primary school teacher. After Miss Faldo finished her Education degree at The University of East Anglia, she qualified as a teacher with Essex and Thames SCITT. After her first two years of teaching she took a break and went on an adventure working with Disney Cruise Line travelling Europe, America and the Caribbean. When she got back, and was ready to settle, she started working as supply staff at St Michael’s where she is now excited to begin a more permanent role as class teacher. When not at work, Miss Faldo enjoys going to the theatre, reading and travelling.

Curriculum Overview

Homework

Every Thursday you’ll be set homework, and this will consist of something we have been learning in class. You will also be set a spelling activity on Purple Mash which links to the Year 4 spelling objectives. We also expect you to log onto Times Table Rockstars and play in the Studio area for at least 5 minutes a day. Finally, we

expect you to read for pleasure at least 4 times a week. Don’t forget, it’s also lovely to be read to too. Why not snuggle up with a book with someone at home before bed?

Homework in Year 4 should take approximately 40 minutes. If you have not been able to complete the given task within this time you may choose to either carry on or stop and ask an adult to write a note to explain this to your teacher.

Read Write Inc and reading books

Some children may participate in a Read Write Inc. (RWI) intervention that focuses on phonics, reading and comprehension. This intervention runs three days a week. Each week, your child will bring home a book that we have been studying. It would be wonderful if you could spend some time reading this book with your child and ask them questions about it. Sending the book home reinforces everything we’ve been learning at school and is a crucial part of their progress.

Your child may also bring home a reading book from our class bookshelf. This book will be age appropriate, and we’d be really grateful if you could listen to your child read aloud.
