Year 2 Transition Programme – Summer 2025

We are excited to welcome our new Year 3 pupils to St Michael’s VA Junior School. Our transition programme is designed to help children feel comfortable and confident in their new environment.

Key Transition Dates

Wednesday 4th June 

GIS staff will walk the Year 2 children around our Daily Mile track to familiarise them with the school.

Monday 16th June 

 – Year 3 teachers will visit GIS to meet the Year 2 children.

– Year 3 LSAs will also visit GIS to introduce themselves.

Wednesday 18th June 10:45-11am

Year 2 children to join playtime, accompanied by Galleywood Infant school staff

Wednesday 25th June 10:45-11am 

Year 2 children to join playtime, accompanied by Galleywood Infant school staff

Wednesday 25th June 1:15pm

Pastoral Year 2 handover with year 3 class teachers and Galleywood Infant school staff, together

Thursday 3rd July 

Year 2 children visiting St Michael’s for an afternoon tour and read session with their new teacher

 Friday 11th July 

Year 2 children to join the Celebration Worship, accompanied by Galleywood Infant school staff

 Monday 14th July 9:30-12:15 

 Year 2 Children visiting St Michaels for the morning and spending the morning with their new teacher

Monday 14th July 3:20-4:20 

Parents are welcome to attend the school’s Open Afternoon to meet their child’s new class teacher and see the classroom

First day of school is 3rd September
