Inclusive Dementia Community

Inclusive Dementia Community

Here at St Michael’s, our staff, governors and pupils strive to be as inclusive as possible. One aspect of this is our commitment to people affected by dementia. We are very proud to be a Dementia Friendly school and we welcome those in our community living with dementia and their loved ones/carers to all of our school events.

As part of our inclusive school community, all visitors will be made to feel very welcome. For further information or to discuss any aspects of our dementia friendly approach please contact Mrs Orton or Mrs Prigg.

Galleywood has been approved as a Inclusive Dementia Community with St Michael’s Junior School as the hub for this, working closely with other key stakeholders in the area. I am told by our contact from the Alzheimer’s Society that we are the first school in the country to lead on the creation of a DFC so this really is a significant achievement for us all.
